How to View Someone's LinkedIn Profile Without Letting Them Know

If you're searching for a new job, chances are you're using LinkedIn to find and connect with recruiters. However, checking out someone's profile on LinkedIn will alert them that you viewed their profile. This can be an uncomfortable situation for both parties. Fortunately, LinkedIn has a solution for this problem - private modes.

Private modes allow you to browse LinkedIn profiles without revealing your identity to the person whose profile you viewed. In this article, we'll discuss the steps you can take to view someone's LinkedIn profile without them knowing.

Step 1: Access the Settings & Privacy Section

The first step is to click on the "Me" icon located at the top of your LinkedIn homepage. From the dropdown, select the "Settings & Privacy" option.

Step 2: Navigate to the Visibility Section

In the Settings & Privacy section, click on the "Visibility" option located on the left side of the page.

Step 3: Change Your Profile Viewing Options

Next, under the "Visibility of your profile & network" section, click on "Profile viewing options."

Step 4: Choose a Browsing Mode

You will now have three options to choose from:

Your name and headline

Private profile characteristics (job title and industry)

Private mode

If you want to view someone's profile without them knowing, select "Private mode." When you browse in private mode, your LinkedIn profile will not appear in the person's "Who's Viewed Your Profile" section, and none of your profile details will be shared with them.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

Finally, make sure to save your changes. Your LinkedIn profile will now be completely private while you're browsing in private mode.

It's important to note that if you have a LinkedIn Premium subscription, you can still see the list of people who viewed your profile in the last 90 days. However, you won't be able to see the names of private mode viewers on your profile if you have a Basic or free account.

In conclusion, if you're worried about alerting someone that you viewed their LinkedIn profile, using private mode is an easy and effective solution. Follow the steps above to browse profiles without revealing your identity to the person you viewed.
